Could Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Save My Child from His Addicition?

Fentanyl is the ingredient that drug dealers have been mixing into heroin, to increase their profit from the sale of heroin.  Fentanyl costs less than heroin so when the dealer mixes fentanyl in, it lowers his cost and increases his profit. Most often when you hear or read about a death by overdose, the person was injecting heroin to get high, but there was a little too much fentanyl in the mix, and they stopped breathing due to the effect of fentanyl on their body.

If you are addicted to heroin, your life is at risk because fentanyl is so very powerful in small doses that it is very hard to mix in a safe amount with the heroin. Often, the amount of fentanyl mixed in with the heroin is lethal.

It’s not so easy to stay away if you are already addicted to heroin. Addiction is like that as we can see with the many people who smoke tobacco. Not easy to stop.

How Does Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Work?

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is a medical technique in which a electromagnetic coil is positioned beside the patient’s head to create a magnetic field  in the area of the prefrontal cortex.  Applying this technique to those who have uncontrollable cravings for drugs Dr. Luigi Gallimberti has had some success at his clinic in Padua Italy. There are some preliminary results that show some promise from this technique when applied for the purpose of curbing the patient’s craving for the addicting substance. Gallimberti has treated over 300 patients at his clinic in padua. Based on the results he has achieved, a randomnized double blind study of the application of TMS to drug addiction has begun at the university of South Carolina under the direction of Collenn Hanlon, a Neurobiologist. A similar double blind study has begun in Mexico City.
