John L. Keefe
Again and again—in fact, about 65 percent of the time—Americans are denied Social Security Administration (SSA) disability benefits. This leaves countless people living in poverty with no real hope of success. Add to that their constant health issues, and life can become intolerable.
At Keefe Disability Law, we believe that this suffering needs to end. We know that people who are denied and go on to appeal the decision are frequently rewarded for their persistence.
However, too many applicants make two mistakes when denied; they simply give up, or they choose to reapply rather than appeal. The first of these mistakes will guarantee failure. The second will probably end in failure, as your new application will face the same lopsided odds of succeeding.
There are many reasons your initial disability application can be denied. To prove that you are unable to work, you must supply the SSA with very comprehensive medical evidence. Without enough evidence, a denial is almost guaranteed. In addition, if you have been denied before, if your disability will not last 12 months, if you miss medical appointments or deadlines, or if you earn too much money, a denial is also likely. Other reasons include criminal convictions, drug and alcohol abuse problems, or being hard to contact.
As Massachusetts disability specialists, we intervene in the cycle of failure inherent in the SSA disability program and work to help our clients find success and dignity. Attorney John Keefe can answer any question you may have and advise you of your rights and your options.
