Understanding Your Massachusetts SSDI and SSI Benefits

Many people want to know how long they will receive their SSDI or SSI benefits, and if Social Security will continue sending benefits for a short time or for the rest of their lives. A knowledgeable Massachusetts disability lawyer has your answers. Watch this video to find out.

When Social Security determines your benefits, they will start sending you monthly income checks in addition to your retroactive benefits that go back to the date you became disabled. Your monthly SSI or SSDI benefits will continue until you get better and return to work. Sometimes Social Security will evaluate your claim to determine if you are still disabled. If their findings indicate that you are able to return to work, they will terminate your monthly benefits. Others who are disabled for life will stay on SSDI or SSI income until they reach retirement age. At that point, Social Security will transfer their benefits to retirement income.
