Q I got a call from Social Security asking me to see one of their doctors. Do I have to attend this appointment?
Sometimes, Social Security will send you to see one of their doctors or specialists, at no cost to you. These appointments, called "consultative examinations," allow Social Security to gather additional information about your condition or conditions.
It's important that you attend any consultative examinations that Social Security schedules for you. Failing to attend a scheduled appointment can result in a denial of your claim for failure to cooperate.
