Get Your Flu ShotAccording to the U.S. Government Center for Disease Control “CDC” Influenza leads to approximately 36,000 deaths in the USA on average each year. In 2012 – 2013 the flu led to 56,000 deaths in the USA.

Although not all of those deaths are directly from the flu itself, the CDC assigns the death to the flu because the death was caused by a complication from the flu, such as secondary bacterial infection like pneumonia, or because the flu aggravated an underlying chronic illness such as COPD leading to death of the patient.

Get The Flu Shot!

The CDC recommends the flu vaccine (“flu shot”) to every person who is over 6 months of age. Those who are at highest risk from getting the flu include those with asthma, heart disease, cancer, diabetes, young children and those over 65.
